The New York - New Jersey Physical Therapy Clinical Education Consortium has a history of presenting awards to therapists and departments who have demonstrated excellence in clinical education. In the past, the awards were presented to CCCEs, ACCEs and clinical instructors at one of the consortia’s continuing education programs. Over the past few years, nominations had decreased. This was attributed to the cumbersome process of nomination required. In response to comments from both academic and clinical faculty, the nomination process was revised.

As a result of these changes, the consortium has decided to award Physical Therapy departments with Outstanding Center and Appreciation Awards. Consortium members nominate physical therapy departments whose staffs have made significant contributions to clinical education through excellence in clinical teaching. In order to be nominated a center must meet the following criteria:

  1. Nominees must have participated in clinical teaching for at least 2 years.
  2. Nominees must be a clinic that affiliates with a New York- New Jersey Physical therapy Consortium School.
  3. Nominees must work directly with students from an accredited physical therapy program.
  4. The clinic should demonstrate exceptional clinical teaching as evidenced by
    • Openness to new ideas
    • Outstanding communication skills with students and academic programs
    • Ability to support students and clinical instructors
    • Innovative and well-designed clinical teaching methods and materials
